Cusco - Sacred Valley - Ollantaytambo
The tour begins with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco approximately between 6:20 and 7:00 am. On our way to Ollantaytambo, we will visit the different tourist places of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
The first stop will be Chinchero, a place where people have preserved their artisan traditions. During the Inca civilization, Chinchero used to be a summer palace for the Incas. After the Spanish conquistadors conquered Chinchero, they demolished the palace and built a church on its ruins.
Our next stop will be Moray, which was an agricultural laboratory. The Incas used these circular cultivation terraces with different temperatures to test the growing conditions of crops.
Then, we will visit Maras, known for its salt terraces where ancient methods are still used to extract salt.
Afterwards, we will stop in Urubamba for lunch.
Finally, we will visit Ollantaytambo, a charming town that was the administrative capital of the Incas. After a tour or guided tour, you can tour the town of Ollantaytambo that still retains its Andean identity.
Here we will spend the night to leave the next day towards km 104 or Chachabamba.
day 2
Ollantaytambo – km 104 or Chachabamba – Machu Picchu – Cusco
We will pick you up from the hotel between 3:30 to 4:00 AM depending on the location of your accommodation. Then, we will begin the trip to Ollantaytambo. Where, we will board the train to the starting point of the Inca trail at Km.104 or chachabamba. The trip lasts one hour and ten minutes.
After passing the checkpoint, we will begin the one-day Inca Trail tour to Machu Picchu. We will ascend gradually for three hours to Wiñay Wayna. It is an Inca archaeological site at an altitude of (2,650 meters above sea level).
From here, you will have a charming view of some archaeological sites that are part of the Classic Inca Trail. After enjoying these historical sites, we will walk to the camping area for lunch
Then, we will walk towards the Intipunku or Puerta del Sol. This is the highlight of the Inca Trail. You will have an exclusive view of Machu Picchu from this place. Then, we will descend for an hour to the citadel.
In Machu Picchu, you will have a two-hour guided tour. On this tour, you will visit sites such as the main square, the ceremonial center and other important places. Afterwards, you will have free time to explore and take photographs on your own.
Afterwards, we will take the charter bus from Machu Picchu to the town of Aguas Calientes. If you wish, we can guide you to one of the restaurants in Aguas Calientes for dinner.
After dinner, you will board a train back to Ollantaytambo. In Ollantaytambo, our bus will be waiting to bring you back to Cusco. We will drop you off at your hotel in Cusco between 10:30 and 11:30 pm, this will depend a lot on the train time chosen to return.
