Highlights

Qoricancha (3,400 meters above sea level / 11,200 feet): It is considered the most important temple of worship to the Sun God during the time of the Incas. After the Spanish invasion, this place became the Santo Domingo convent, although many pre-colonial vestiges remain.

Sacsayhuamán (3,700 m / 12,141 ft): Majestic archeological complex, located at the top of the city. It is also famous for its enormous finely assembled stone blocks.

Qenqo (3,580 m / 11,745 ft): Ancient ceremonial center where rituals and cults related to nature and water were performed; it is believed that it was also used for mummification and sacrifice processes.

Puca Pucara (3,680 meters above sea level / 12,073 feet): Military fortress and strategic checkpoint where entry to Cusco was monitored and warriors were given rest.

Tambomachay (3,700 m / 12,141 ft): Temple dedicated to the worship of water, known for its channels and hydraulic fountains that continue to flow to this day. It is a living testament to Inca engineering.
