The journey begins very early, around 4:00 to 4:30 in the morning, when our team will pick you up from your hotel to start the trip to Vinicunca. The journey is made in tourist transport along the Route of the Sun to Cusipata, allowing you to watch the sunrise among the mountains.

Upon arriving in Cusipata, a buffet breakfast will be enjoyed to start the day with energy.

Subsequently, the journey continues through small Andean communities such as Checacupe and Pitumarca, where traditional clothing and some customs of Andean culture are still preserved. During the journey, llamas, alpacas, and other animals native to the Andes can also be seen in their natural habitat, along with spectacular landscapes.

Finally, the transport will arrive at Kcayrahuiri (4,630 meters above sea level / 15,190 feet), the point where the hike begins. The hiking section takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach Vinicunca (5,200 meters above sea level / 17,060 feet). Throughout the entire journey, various scenic landscapes of the Andes will be visible.

Upon reaching the summit, there will be time to admire the spectacular Rainbow Mountain and the majestic Ausangate Snow Mountain, take photographs, and listen to the guide's explanations about the natural formation of its colors, as well as the importance of the apus (sacred mountains) within the Andean worldview.

Can I suffer from altitude sickness?

Yes, it is possible to experience altitude sickness (soroche), as the hike takes place above 5,000 meters above sea level, where there is less oxygen. The symptoms may include headache, nausea, fatigue, or dizziness. To prevent it, good acclimatization is recommended, staying hydrated throughout the journey, and resting adequately before and during the hike.

Can elderly people, overweight individuals, or those with special medical conditions take the tour? Yes, as long as the person can move around on their own and has an adequate physical condition. It is recommended that those over 70 years old and those with any pre-existing medical conditions undergo a prior medical evaluation. Due to the altitude and effort, the private service is recommended, which allows you to progress at your own pace and take the necessary breaks.

What clothes should I wear? The ideal is to dress in layers to adapt to the intense cold, the wind, and the strong sun. Essentials: warm jacket (down), comfortable pants, high-top trekking shoes, gloves, hat, and rain poncho.

How long does the hike from the starting point to the summit take? Generally between 1 hour and 1 hour 20 minutes of ascent, depending on physical pace and acclimatization. The total round trip covers approximately 5 km, with the ascent being the most demanding part.

What happens if I feel unwell during the hike? Passenger safety is the top priority. The staff is trained in first aid. If a passenger shows symptoms of altitude sickness, fatigue, or any other discomfort, the team evaluates their condition and provides the necessary assistance:

depending on the situation, they coordinate the return with the driver or the transfer to the community's first aid point. In case specialized care is required, there is support from a clinic near the start of the hike, which can coordinate evacuation to Cusco.

Is there cell phone or internet signal during the visit? The signal is very limited and, in most cases, it is not available during the hike. At some elevated points, there may be intermittent signal, although not guaranteed. It is recommended to inform family members or contacts that communication may be lost for approximately 5 to 6 hours.

What is the reservation process like?
