The private 2-day Short Inca Trail tour begins with your guide picking you up from your hotel in the city of Cusco around 4:20 a.m. and then heading toward the town of Ollantaytambo. The journey takes approximately an hour and a half. In Ollantaytambo is the main train station to Machu Picchu, here we will board the train that will take us to Kilometer 104, where the hike to Machu Picchu begins.

Upon arrival, we will have to pass through the first checkpoint, where we will have time to prepare ourselves better. How to get to Cusco?

Most people will arrive in Cusco by air. Remember that the Cusco airport is only for domestic flights. No, it is recommended to order a box breakfast at your hotel or have breakfast in Ollantaytambo before boarding the train.

What type of clothing should you wear for the 2-day Short Inca Trail?

Wear comfortable and lightweight clothing, but among the most recommended and important items: good trekking shoes, trekking pants, rain gear, a small 30-liter backpack, a sun hat, trekking poles, mosquito repellent, sunscreen, and a good camera with a charged battery.

Is it necessary to bring trekking poles for the 2-day Inca Trail?

Trekking poles are always useful for hikers and are recommended for this walk. There is a large number of stairs carved by the Incas that you will have to descend. They vary in height and are not all straight. Using trekking poles can help relieve pressure on the knees while traversing this part of the trail, and they will also be helpful on the uphill sections. For those who bring their own, make sure to have rubber tips; otherwise, the rangers will not allow you to use them. If you forget them before departing, you can book them along with the tour.

Is it allowed to bring drones or GoPro cameras on the 2-day Inca Trail?

Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail are protected by the Peruvian State and UNESCO, therefore it is not allowed to bring or fly a drone, but you can bring a GoPro or small cameras to capture the most beautiful scenes of the Inca Trail.

How long is the visit to the city of Machu Picchu on day 2 with the private Circuit 3B?

On the second day, you will enjoy an exclusive experience in Machu Picchu with your private professional guide, who will accompany you on a tour lasting approximately 2 to 3 hours.

Throughout the visit, you will discover the history, architecture, mysteries, and legacy of the Inca civilization, touring the main sectors allowed by Circuit 3B, with enough time for explanations, photographs, and to enjoy the historical sanctuary at a comfortable and personalized pace.

How do strikes or blockades affect the itinerary and what contingency plan is in place?

On some occasions, external factors such as strikes, protests, or blockades can cause modifications to the schedules or services of the 2-day Inca Trail itinerary. However, our operations team conducts constant monitoring to provide timely solutions and support throughout the entire trip.

In case of any eventuality, alternatives such as schedule adjustments, alternate routes, or possible rescheduling will be coordinated, in accordance with the provisions issued by the Ministry of Culture. Our main objective will always be your safety and ensuring you can enjoy the best possible experience on your adventure to Machu Picchu.

It is important to keep in mind that some external changes could generate unforeseen additional costs. Therefore, we recommend having travel insurance that provides you with greater peace of mind and assistance in case of any unforeseen events.

What happens if I feel unwell during the first part of the journey?

If any passenger experiences altitude sickness, exhaustion, or any other issue during the hike, the expert and trained guide will promptly assess the situation and provide immediate assistance. Depending on the passenger's condition and their location, the return will be coordinated via the safest route or the necessary assistance with the relevant authorities such as the Ministry of Culture, SERNANP, and the National Police of Peru (High Mountain Division) if required.

Is there phone signal or internet during the 2-day Inca Trail?

The phone signal is limited during some parts of the hike. However, our team has a phone with coverage throughout the entire route to handle any emergencies and ensure constant communication. Your safety is our top priority.

What is the reservation process like?

Step 1: Check availability

Step 2: Passenger Information

To manage the entry permits for the Inca Trail, we need the following information from each participant, as it appears in the passport:

Full name

Gender

Passport number

Date of birth (dd/mm/yyyy)

Nationality

Without this information, it is not possible to obtain permits or tickets.

Step 3: Deposit and Confirmation

Once we receive the completed forms, we will request a deposit of 300.00 USD per person to proceed with the purchase of permits. We recommend booking in advance, as spots fill up quickly.

Step 4: Final Confirmation

When the permits are secured, you will receive your official confirmation invoice. At that moment, your reservation will be guaranteed 100%.

Can I cancel the 2-day Inca Trail and request a refund of my deposit?

Unfortunately, no. Due to the fact that the Inca Trail requires the advance purchase of permits, tickets, and train tickets, the deposit or guarantee paid to confirm the reservation is non-refundable and non-transferable.

We recommend consulting with your sales executive about the specific cancelation conditions and deadlines applicable to your reservation before making any modifications.

What will happen with the outstanding balance?

We would appreciate it if the outstanding balance could be settled in cash (US dollars or Peruvian soles) at our Cusco office.

Can I leave my luggage at your office?

Of course! During the trip, your main luggage can be stored at our office or at your hotel, both free of charge.

Do you give tips?

Tipping is part of the tradition of any hike to Machu Picchu. While it is true that we pay good salaries to all our team, any extra amount is always appreciated. Please note that this is not mandatory and you should never feel pressured by it.
