Discover what awaits you in the COLCA CANYON TREKKING – 2 DAYS
day 1
DAY 1: CRUZ DEL CÓNDOR - SAN JUAN DE CHUCCHO - SANGALLE
The first day of the 2-day Colca Canyon Tour begins very early with pickup from your hotel in Arequipa. We head toward the Colca Valley, crossing high Andean landscapes until we reach Chivay, where a typical local breakfast awaits us.
We then continue to the iconic Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, one of the most impressive points of the tour. From this natural viewpoint, we’ll witness the majestic flight of the Andean condor, the emblematic bird of the Andes and symbol of freedom.
After this unforgettable moment, we head to the San Miguel Viewpoint, where our scenic hike begins toward the community of San Juan de Chuccho. There, we’ll share a traditional lunch with a local family, immersing ourselves in an authentic and culturally rich experience.
Afterward, we continue descending through the Colca Canyon until we reach the Sangalle oasis, a place surrounded by lush vegetation, palm trees, and natural pools. Here you can rest, swim, enjoy the natural surroundings, or relax around a campfire in the heart of the canyon.

DAY 2: CABANACONDE - CHIVAY - AREQUIPA
The second day begins with the challenge of ascending from Sangalle to Cabanaconde. Although the journey requires effort, the panoramic views of the Colca Canyon reward every step.
In Cabanaconde, we’ll enjoy a restorative breakfast before heading back to Chivay. Along the way, we’ll stop at viewpoints like Antahuilque, where ancient pre-Inca terraces unfold before our eyes and are still used by local communities. During the journey, we’ll visit the town of Maca, known for its colonial church and vibrant crafts, and Yanque, where we can relax in the hot springs (optional), ideal for recovering energy after trekking.
At the end, we’ll return to Chivay for lunch, then head back to Arequipa around noon. Along the way, we’ll stop at the Andes Viewpoint, from where you can observe the majestic Ampato, Sabancaya, Hualca Hualca, Chachani, and Misti volcanoes. We’ll also cross the Pampa Cañahuas Reserve, a refuge for vicuñas, high Andean birds, and typical local flora. We’ll arrive in Arequipa in the afternoon, putting the finishing touch on this unforgettable adventure in the 2-day Colca Canyon trek.
