PUERTO MALDONADO - AMAZON LODGE
The adventure begins where the jungle reveals its secrets! Get ready to discover the biodiversity of the Peruvian Amazon and enjoy an unforgettable journey to the famous El Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick.
Upon your arrival at the airport or bus terminal in Puerto Maldonado, our team will meet you to begin this adventure. If you have large luggage, we recommend bringing a backpack with only the essentials for the excursion.
We will travel about two hours by road to the banks of the Tambopata River, where we will board a tourist boat to our Amazon lodge, surrounded by nature. Upon arrival, you will enjoy a welcome drink made with local fruits and a traditional breakfast or lunch, depending on your arrival time.
In the afternoon, we will take a guided hike through the Tambopata rainforest, where we will have the chance to observe amphibians, reptiles, mammals, insects, and birds in their natural habitat. With our guide, we will discover the secrets of one of Peru’s most biodiverse ecosystems.
As night falls, the sounds of the forest and its nocturnal wildlife will surround us in a magical atmosphere. We will rest at the lodge, surrounded by nature, as we prepare to witness the fascinating spectacle of the El Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick the next day.

LODGE - "EL CHUNCHO" MACAW CLAY LICK - PUERTO MALDONADO
Get ready to witness one of the most fascinating spectacles of the Peruvian Amazon! We will wake up at 4:30 a.m. to navigate for about an hour and a half along the Tambopata River to the impressive El Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick. Along the way, we will have the chance to spot wildlife such as capybaras, tapirs, and, with a lot of luck, the majestic jaguar in its natural habitat.
Upon reaching the clay lick, we will settle into our seats to watch this extraordinary natural spectacle. Hundreds of parrots and parakeets may gather on the clay cliff, followed by colorful scarlet macaws and red-and-green and blue-and-yellow macaws, which descend in flocks to eat mineral-rich clay. On the most active days, we can see many birds flying and filling the landscape with color, an unforgettable experience for nature and photography lovers.
After enjoying this fascinating macaw watching in Tambopata, we will return to the lodge for lunch and a short rest.
In the afternoon, we will take a guided walk through our botanical garden, where we will discover a variety of fruit, timber, and medicinal plants native to the region, while learning about their uses and importance in the Amazon ecosystem.
Finally, we will board the boat to travel back along the Tambopata River to the meeting point with our ground transportation to Puerto Maldonado. Upon arrival, we will transfer you to the airport or bus terminal, concluding this unforgettable 2-day adventure in the Peruvian Amazon.

You can pay the total when booking or, if you prefer, secure your spot with a 50% deposit per person. In that case, the balance is paid at most the day before the tour.
