Overview

Discover the stunning Rainbow Mountain (Vinincunca), a natural treasure of the Vilcanota Mountain Range located at 5,200 meters above sea level, where the land seems to have been painted by the gods.
On its slopes, vibrant colored bands unfold — the result of a rich mineral composition unique in the world. Considered a sacred Apu by Andean cultures, Vinicunca offers a challenging yet profoundly rewarding hike. Since 2016, it has become one of Peru’s most remarkable destinations. A visual, spiritual, and photographic experience that will remain etched in your memory forever.

Itinerary

Discover what awaits you in the CHOQUEQUIRAO TREKKING – 5 DAYS

Our adventure begins early in Cusco as we depart for the town of San Pedro de Cachora, a journey that takes approximately 4 hours. We then continue to Capuliyoc, where we’ll enjoy our lunch with breathtaking views of the Apurímac Canyon and the snow-capped Padreyoc mountain.

The trek begins at Capuliyoc, descending along a marked trail for 3 to 4 hours until we reach Chiquisca, where we’ll have dinner and spend the night in a family-run lodge. The first day of the Choquequirao Trek offers us a preview of the spectacular landscapes ahead.

After breakfast, we descend for about 1 hour to the Apurímac River, crossing the bridge at Playa Rosalina. From this point, we begin the approximately 2-hour ascent to Santa Rosa, a challenging stretch due to the elevated terrain.

After a well-deserved rest, we continue ascending for about 2.5 more hours to Marampata, where we’ll enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll have free time to experience Andean rural life, including its traditional agriculture and Quechua customs. Dinner and overnight accommodations will be at a local lodge with spectacular canyon views. Our second day combines adventure, nature, and the living culture of the Choquequirao Tour.

We’ll dedicate the day to exploring the impressive citadel of Choquequirao, considered one of Peru’s most enigmatic archaeological complexes. We’ll visit its main sectors: terraces, temples, agricultural platforms, and ceremonial enclosures. Lunch will be served at the archaeological site itself, and in the afternoon, we’ll return to Marampata, then descend to Santa Rosa. Dinner and overnight accommodations will be at the campsite.

Very early in the morning, we’ll descend once again to the Apurímac River and then begin the final ascent to Capuliyoc (approx. 4 hours). There, a farewell lunch awaits us with canyon views. Afterward, we’ll return by private transport to Cusco, arriving in the afternoon.

This day is the most relaxed; we’ll wake up later for breakfast and then enjoy our exclusive campsite, complete with a swimming pool, swings, canyon views, and vistas of the Vilcabamba mountain range.

After enjoying the campsite, we can visit the thermal medicinal waters of Cconoc (coordinated with the group). An additional fee is paid to the driver (this visit is optional). Lunch on this day consists of à la carte dishes for an extra cost.
