ITINERARY FOR THE CITY TOUR COLONIAL AND MODERN LIMA - HALF DAY
We’ll begin our adventure on the Colonial and Modern Lima City Tour in the vibrant and captivating Miraflores, Lima’s modern heart. Our first stop is the Parque del Amor (Love Park), a romantic corner by the sea, where Víctor Delfín’s sculpture “The Kiss” celebrates love in all its splendor. Multicolored mosaics adorned with phrases in Spanish and Quechua create a magical atmosphere, perfect for capturing memories and contemplating the Pacific Ocean.
We’ll continue with a panoramic view of the majestic Huaca Pucllana, an ancient pre-Hispanic ceremonial center erected by pre-Inca cultures and revered by the Incas as sacred. From here, you’ll witness the fascinating contrast between contemporary Lima and its millennial heritage, coexisting in perfect harmony.
Next, we’ll venture into Lima’s Historic Center, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, to explore on foot its plazas, streets, and colonial churches. Authentic architectural gems await us here, including:
- Plaza San Martín, symbol of Peruvian independence
- Plaza Mayor, the heart of the city
- The Government Palace, the official residence of the president
- The Archbishop’s Palace and Lima Cathedral, with its imposing Renaissance façade
- The Municipal Palace, an example of republican architecture
In every corner, the stones and façades whisper tales of Lima’s viceregal and republican grandeur. To culminate this cultural journey, the San Francisco Convent Museum awaits us, a jewel of colonial religious art in Latin America. Its rooms, steeped in history, invite us to discover secrets of the past: the Choir Hall and the ancient Library, with thousands of colonial books; the sacristy, adorned with paintings from the Cusco school. And finally, the famous Catacombs lead us through underground passages that served as a cemetery until the 19th century, offering a unique perspective on Lima’s past.
This Lima City Tour fuses modernity, history, and tradition to give you an unforgettable experience that reveals the cultural soul of Peru’s capital.
