Itinerary
Discover what awaits you in the Machu Picchu By Train Expedition – 1 day
day 1
CUSCO - OLLANTAYTAMBO - MACHUPICCHU - CUSCO
This Machu Picchu Full Day tour begins early with a pick-up from your hotel in Cusco to head to the Ollantaytambo train station, a journey of approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. Once there, we’ll board the Expedition train bound for Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes). The journey, lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes, offers incredible views of the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the Urubamba River.
Upon arriving in Aguas Calientes, around 9:00 a.m., our guide will be waiting to take us to the Consettur bus station, from where we’ll ascend to Machu Picchu Citadel on a 25-minute journey.
At Machu Picchu, we’ll enjoy a guided tour of approximately 2 hours, exploring temples, plazas, and terraces while learning about the history and secrets of the majestic Inca Sanctuary. After the Machu Picchu trek, we’ll have free time to take photographs and explore independently.
Subsequently, we’ll descend again to Machu Picchu Pueblo, where we can have lunch and, if time permits, relax in the famous Machu Picchu hot springs. Finally, we’ll take the return train to Ollantaytambo, where transportation will take us back to Cusco.

Recomendations
When to go to Machu Picchu?
- To plan the tour to Machu Picchu, first decide the season in which you will visit Cusco in Peru.
- There are 2 seasons in Cusco: the dry season (April to October) where there is not much rain and the rainy season (November to March) where fluvial rainfall is more frequent.
- Once you have decided on the date you want to visit the Wonder of the World, buy tickets to Machu Picchu in advance.
- Make the reservation of the Machu Picchu entrance with time in advance. So you can better plan tours, hotel reservations, trains, flights and more.
- If you are going to do the Inca Trail, book your tour 4, 5 or 6 months in advance. Otherwise you will not find availability.
- The entrance ticket to the Huayna Picchu mountain must also be purchased up to 3 months before.
- Remember to have your passport and identity document in order: check the expiration date.
