Itinerary
Discover what awaits you in the MANU TOUR – RESERVED ZONE 4 DAYS
day 1
DAY 1: CUSCO - CLOUD FOREST - BAMBU LODGE
Our journey to Manu National Park begins early, departing from Cusco. Along the route, we’ll stop at the enigmatic Ninamarca Chullpas, ancient pre-Inca vestiges set amid unique landscapes. Continuing our journey, we’ll arrive at the colonial town of Paucartambo, where we’ll learn about its history, traditions, and distinctive architecture.
Once we finish our visit to Paucartambo, we head toward Acjanaco, the entry point to Manu National Park. From there, we’ll begin our descent into the cloud forest, where we’ll make several stops to observe birds, orchids, and giant ferns. Our main activity will be spotting the cock-of-the-rock, Peru’s national bird, in its natural habitat in the San Pedro area.
At the end of the day, we’ll arrive at our first accommodation, Bambu Lodge, where we’ll enjoy a local dinner and receive an informative talk about tomorrow’s activities.
day 2
DAY 2: BAMBU LODGE - PUERTO DE ATALAYA - COCHA MACHUWASI - DORADO LODGE
After breakfast, we continue our journey to Puerto de Atalaya. Along the way, we visit hummingbird gardens —beautiful natural spaces created by residents —ideal for observing birds, hummingbirds, and orchids.
From Puerto de Atalaya, we board our boat and navigate the Alto Madre de Dios River, admiring the rich Amazonian biodiversity. During the journey, we’ll visit Cocha Machuwasi, where we’ll explore on wooden rowing rafts and observe exotic birds, insects, monkeys, and other species in the area. Later, we’ll make another stop at the thermomedicinal baths, where we’ll have the opportunity to relax in their warm waters surrounded by nature.
After being in the thermomedicinal waters, we continue navigating until we reach Dorado Lodge, where we spend the night. Before or after dinner, we’ll take a night walk along Amazonian trails, where it’s possible to spot tarantulas, snakes, frogs, and nocturnal birds.
day 3
DAY 3: DORADO LODGE - LIMONAL - COCHA BRASHCO
This day begins very early with a journey along the Manu River, heading to the Limonal control post, where park rangers will welcome us to Manu National Park. During the trip, we’ll have breakfast and can observe capybaras, tapirs, caimans, birds of prey, anacondas, and, with luck, even a jaguar.
When we arrive at the port, we disembark to explore the jungle along trails until we reach Cocha Brashco, where we board a catamaran to navigate this beautiful lake, home to the majestic giant river otters.
Upon returning, we’ll enjoy a typical lunch aboard the boat. Later, we’ll stop at the Diamante Native Community, where we can support the local economy by purchasing crafts or other local products. At night, we’ll have another night walk to observe nocturnal animals. We’ll rest again at Dorado Lodge.
day 4
DAY 4: PARROT CLAY LICK - PUERTO DE ATALAYA - CUSCO
On our last day of Amazonian adventure, we visit the impressive parrot clay lick very early, a site where these birds descend in flocks to feed on clay, creating a natural spectacle of sounds and colors.
After the activity, we return to the lodge, pack our things, and board the boat to navigate for about five hours on the Madre de Dios River to Puerto de Atalaya. Along the way, we’ll have breakfast and still have the opportunity to spot flora and fauna in their natural state. When we arrive at Puerto Atalaya, transportation will be waiting to take us back to Cusco.
