PALCOYO MOUNTAIN TOUR ITINERARY
Tour Palcoyo
The Palcoyo Mountain Tour begins early, with pickup from your hotel in Cusco. As we head south, the road rewards us with Andean landscapes that light up with the sunrise. After approximately two hours of travel, we arrive in Cusipata; the aroma of a hot breakfast fills us with energy and prepares us for the adventure.
Along the way, we make a brief but fascinating stop in Checcacupe, where two bridges tell us a living story: the Inca bridge, a masterpiece of ancestral engineering, and the colonial bridge, witness to the viceregal era. Here, the guide shares details of this cultural fusion, allowing us to contemplate and photograph this meeting of cultures.
We continue the journey to the area known as the “parking lot,” the starting point of our approximately 45-minute hike to reach Palcoyo Mountain. The trail is gentle and friendly, while panoramas of Andean valleys, grazing alpacas, and small communities that preserve their authenticity open up before us.
Once at the Palcoyo viewpoint, the sight is simply breathtaking: three colored mountains rise side by side, displaying unique tonalities resulting from minerals and natural erosion. It’s a less crowded spectacle than Rainbow Mountain – Vinicunca, but equally impressive and with a unique energy that can be felt in the air.
Additionally, from this viewpoint, we can explore the surprising stone forest, where rock formations sculpted over centuries by the wind seem like stone guardians of the landscape. Here we’ll have free time for photographs and to immerse ourselves in the serenity of this Andean corner.
Then we descend and board our transportation back to Cusipata, where a delicious buffet lunch awaits us to complete the experience. Finally, we begin the return to Cusco, arriving with our memories full of unforgettable moments.
The Palcoyo hike is an excellent option for those who wish to immerse themselves in the magic of the colored mountains, surrounded by tranquility, gentle trails, and landscapes that seem extracted from a dream.

Recomendations
The Palcoyo Mountain is the other mountain of colors that is very close to the Vinicunca
It is the easiest route to see the rainbow mountains of Cusco, we only need little effort to get there and it is also ideal for adults and children.
What is the best time to go to Palccoyo?
The best time to visit Montaña Palcoyo is during the dry season (April to October). In those months, the rains are much less frequent, which makes the excursion easier.
