Q'ESWACHAKA INCA BRIDGE AND 4 LAGOONS CULTURAL TOUR ITINERARY - 1 DAY
The day begins with the fresh morning breeze and a gentle awakening at your hotel in Cusco, ready to depart south in search of one of the most amazing traditions that survives in the Andes. After two hours of changing landscapes, we arrive in Cusipata, where a hot breakfast awaits us and prepares us for the adventure that lies ahead.
Our first stop is the Combapata viewpoint, from where expansive and beautiful Andean landscapes can be appreciated. Then we head to the enigmatic Pabellones volcano, which rises imposingly in the middle of the highlands. We continue our journey to the district of Yanaoca, a picturesque town that welcomes us with its charm and allows us time to purchase souvenirs or use the restroom facilities.
Mid-morning we arrive at the historic Q’eswachaka Bridge, the last Inca suspension bridge that remains alive thanks to an ancestral tradition. Here, our guide explains how, each year, local communities gather in a ritual of brotherhood and collective strength to renew the bridge, weaving ichu ropes (Andean grass) just as their ancestors did more than 500 years ago. Walking across it is feeling the Inca legacy beneath our feet and connecting directly with the living history of Tawantinsuyo.
After living this unrepeatable experience, the journey takes us to Tungasuca, the starting point to discover the route of the 4 Lagoons: Pomacanchi, with tranquil waters, surrounded by high Andean birds, Acopia, famous for its legends and local traditions, Asnacocha, a hidden lagoon among mountains with a silent natural environment, and Pampamarca, home to native species that fill the landscape with life.
At the end of our tour, we head to the district of Acopia, where a typical lunch awaits us to replenish our energy. Finally, we return to Cusco in our transportation, arriving in the afternoon with the memory of a day full of culture, landscapes, and ancestral traditions that continue to beat in the heart of the Andes.
This Q’eswachaka cultural tour is for those seeking an authentic experience: living history, natural landscapes, and an artistic legacy that transcends time.
