ITINERARY FOR THE TOURIST BUS ROUTE OF THE SUN PUNO TO CUSCO
The journey begins with the excitement of dawn as we board our tourist bus from Puno to Cusco. The first stop takes us to Pucará, the cradle of ancient civilizations of the southern Andean altiplano. At the Pucará Archaeological Lithic Museum, we’ll discover the secrets of the first agricultural and livestock communities that inhabited these lands.
We continue toward La Raya, the highest point of the route (4,335 meters above sea level), which marks the natural boundary between the regions of Puno and Cusco. From this Andean viewpoint, llamas and alpacas graze under the gaze of the majestic Chimboya Snow Peak, creating a scene worthy of the best postcards.
Further ahead, the district of Marangani welcomes us with a feast of flavors at the famous Marangani Tourist Restaurant Museum. Here, Novo-Andean gastronomy and vegetarian options delight our palate, while the Cultural Interpretation Center adds depth and color to our Andean experience.
The road then takes us to the archaeological complex of Raqchi, where the imposing Temple of Wiracocha stands as a witness to Inca greatness. Its colossal walls and ceremonial spaces transport us to times of splendor and mystery.
Finally, Andahuaylillas opens its doors so we can admire the Church of San Pedro Apóstol, nicknamed the Sistine Chapel of America. Its Cusco canvases, gold-bathed altarpieces, and colonial frescoes dazzle as jewels of Peruvian religious art.
After this final marvel, the journey takes us to the imperial city of Cusco, where an unforgettable journey along the legendary Route of the Sun concludes
