ITINERARY FOR THE UROS ISLANDS TOUR ON LAKE TITICACA - HALF DAY
The adventure to the Uros islands begins with a pickup from your hotel in Puno and a transfer to the main port, where a comfortable motorboat awaits us. We’ll sail across the serene waters of Lake Titicaca for about 30 minutes, enjoying the scenery, until we arrive at the amazing Uros floating islands, a group of artificial islands woven entirely from totora, the aquatic plant that reigns in the lake.
Upon arriving at one of the Uros islands, we’ll be warmly welcomed by local families, who, along with our guide, will explain the construction process of the islands, their homes, and traditional boats. They’ll also show us how they keep their ancestral customs alive, maintain their communal organization, and sustain a harmonious relationship with the natural environment.
After a brief time living with the inhabitants, we’ll have the opportunity to take a ride in totora reed boats (optional activity). This unique experience will immerse us even further in the living tradition of the Uros. After this activity, we’ll have the opportunity to admire and take home colorful handmade crafts by the islanders, unique pieces created with techniques passed down from generation to generation.
Finally, after touring the Uros islands, we begin our return to the port of Puno and, from there, to our hotels, closing a morning full of living culture and landscapes that leave their mark.
